About the Faculty
The Faculty of Arts was officially verified and approved by the National University Commission (NUC) in November 2013 with and fifteen (15) programmes.
The Faculty of Arts has outstanding educators, competent, efficient and effective lecturers who are committed to students’ academic success and the advancement of the university’s vision. Also serve as an educational advisor to the students. Lecturers are given the responsibility and the authority to properly educate the students. Lecturers attend both local and international academic conferences. They publish in wide range of reputable local and international journals. The University Administration encourages and expects excellence from students and staff.
Students uphold the expectations of the University and its community that every child in the university community should reap the benefits of an exemplary education. The university lays emphasis on the conduct, character, and achievements of her students.
The Faculty of Arts recognizes the importance of a strong connection between the community and the university.
The Faculty is committed to providing a diverse and balanced curriculum that stimulates intellectual curiosity and growth. The curriculum is in conformity with the National University Commission Benchmark.
The Faculty have held four Faculty lectures and held First Biennial International Conference in collaboration with the Global Education Network (GEN) in 2014 which was well attended and preparing for the second biennial International Conference between Monday 28th November and 1st December, 2016. The faculty has a reputable journal titled ‘Journal of Capital Development in Behavioural Sciences’. The graduates of education are inducted as certified teachers by the Teachers’ Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN) at the end of their academic programme.
The first Professor of Educational Management was produced in December 2014 in person of Prof. Afolakemi O. Oredein followed by Prof. Donald Odeleye, a professor of Guidance and Counselling, October, 2015. Prof. Afolakemi O. Oredein presented her Inaugural Lecture on Wednesday 7th September, 2016.
It is worth noting that the Faculty runs Sandwich programme for Education programmes at the Bachelors degree level. The sandwich students receive eight (8) weeks intensive lectures during third term holiday between July and first week in September and examination comes up in December during the primary and secondary school first term break.
