Professor Campbell Omolara

B. Sc., M. Ed., M.Sc., PhD

Omolara Campbell is a Professor of Economics and presently, Dean, Faculty of Management and Social Sciences, Lead City University, Ibadan. Oyo State. Nigeria. Omolara possesses over twenty-nine years of tertiary education teaching, research and educational administration experience. She was the Head, Department of Economics for several sessions. During her tenure, she presented the Department of Economics, Lead City University, to the National Universities Commission (NUC), for accreditation. The department earned full accreditation. Furthermore, the accreditation team from the NUC, during their exit meeting with the Management Staff of the University, highly commended her co-ordination and mode of presentation of the academic activities in the department.
Her research interest is in Development Economics with specific focus on Human Capital Development. Over the years, Omolara Campbell has actively participated in both local and international conferences, where she presented very well researched papers. One of such papers was adjudged the best and presented “Best Paper Award” in Chicago, United States of America in 2010.

She has also participated actively in seminars and workshops, guest lectures and academic round -table discussions. Omolara Campbell has appreciable number of publications to her credit in peer reviewed, local and international journals. She is the author of a book titled “Basics of Economics”. A book recommended for A’ Level, Diploma and Degree Programmes in Economics.
She has also contributed chapters in various sound academic books relevant to her discipline. Omolara Campbell plays active role as reviewer of articles in reputable peer review journals. She is a member of the Lead City University Research Committee and Member, Lead City University Governing Council.

About the Faculty

Faculty of Communication and Information Sciences ( FCIS) of Lead City University is a new faculty borne out of the need to bring together departments that have relationship with Communication and Information Sciences in order to produce graduates who will be leaders in their field of choice. The Faculty is made up of three departments namely: Department of Mass Communication and Media Technology; Department of Library and Information Science and Department of Information Management.

FCIS is an excellent choice to attain your information needs and prepare you for a successful career because the faculty members strive to provide exciting quality educational opportunities for students.

Many exciting and fulfilling initiatives are taking place in the Faculty as we strive to achieve and maintain excellence in our missions of education and research. The Faculty is fully committed to teaching and research as it helps all students to be successful at the university and even beyond. We are counting on you to play an active part in attaining this vision.

All programmes are designed with the aim of producing market ready graduates in Communication and Information Sciences with appropriate skills. I urge our esteemed students to please adhere strictly to the rules and regulations governing the conduct of examinations of the University.

In line with the unbundling of Mass Communication programme by the National University Commission (NUC), the Department of Mass Communication and Media Technology, Lead University rose to the dictate of the time. The Department now has the following areas of specialisation in her stable: Journalism and Media Studies, Publishing, Public Relations and Advertising, Broadcasting, Film and Multimedia Studies, Information and Media Studies, and Development Communication Studies. These areas of log specialisation are available at Master (M.Sc), Master of Philosophy (MPhil), and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) levels. The courses are designed in a way and taught by seasoned academics, who possess varied industry experience, with a view to preparing our graduates to compete favourably in the global space.
