Lead City University, Ibadan is the pioneering vision of Eduserve Consult, an education-focused organization known for its outstanding contributions to both tertiary and non-tertiary educational development, particularly in the city of Ibadan.

A Legacy of Educational Excellence

The journey toward establishing Lead City University began in 2002 with a formal application to the National Universities Commission (NUC). Following comprehensive verification and assessment visits by the Standing Committee on Private Universities (SCOPU) in August and September 2003, the university was found to possess the requisite capacity and resources to operate a private institution of higher learning.

By December 2003, the university was approved for immediate take-off by the NUC Board. This was followed by formal ratification by the Federal Executive Council on February 16, 2005—marking the official birth of Lead City University.

From City University to Lead City University

Initially named City University, Ibadan, the institution underwent a name change to Lead City University, Ibadan to avoid potential issues with corporate identity and cases of mistaken identity. This decision was made during an extraordinary meeting of the Board of Trustees and Council on March 7, 2005, and duly communicated to all relevant authorities and stakeholders. All documents bearing the former name remain valid.

The university began its academic activities at its Jericho campus in Ibadan, fully equipped with human, physical, and material resources. From the onset, Lead City University integrated modern information technology infrastructure, including a dedicated V-SAT and Local Area Network, ensuring students receive a holistic, globally relevant education.

Our curriculum blends academic knowledge with practical skills. All students are trained in management and information sciences, and are required to undertake professional certifications (e.g., ATS, ICAN, ACII, NIPR, Microsoft) or vocational training in areas like:
